FOURTEEN years
in the making...
She didn't have any real desire to go to a Camino Palmero concert, to be honest. Sure, she liked their hit single that'd been playing non-stop on the radio, but she wasn't a die-hard fan like her roommate was. But since it was Adrienne that won the tickets from Star 100.7, she figured she might as well.
And what do you know, a damn good time was had. She even liked the music enough to buy herself their debut CD. Well, that and she needed something for the band to sign when they went through the Meet & Greet. As she stood in front of the lead singer she noticed something very peculiar about his scent. He wasn't human. But that's okay, neither was she.
He was cute, for someone who looked like a twelve-year old. She couldn't help a blush as her roommate gushed about how she shared her name with one of the band's songs. He was amused and her breath was taken away by his smile.
As they left the crowded room, she took one more glance over her shoulder, only to find he was watching her as well. Adrienne assumed it was the last time she'd make eyes at Alex Vipond...
NOW
Almost fourteen years later, Adrienne had a new identity and lived in a new city.
The last person she ever expected to bump into at a local diner was Alex Vipond, yet there he was. He was in the middle of a divorce and she had sworn off relationships decades ago, so when they exchanged phone numbers it was meant to be nothing but casual.
Their hearts had other plans and before too long they were inseperable.
The Miracle
It wasn't supposed to be possible. It was known in her family that hybrid breeding led to loss and heartache. His low body temperature left him sterile. But thanks to a brief F A E rebound, temperatures and passions rose, producing the impossible.
